Years with temperatures like this year's
Reference station: Tokyo. Judged on observations through November 2, 2026
This page compares the path this year's temperatures have taken so far with Tokyo's daily observation records since 1875, and finds the years that followed a similar path. The top 3 years for each of 3 periods, the last 30, 60 and 90 days, are updated every day.
Similarity is a reference value for how closely the shapes of the paths match, with 100% as a perfect match. It compares observations up to now and says nothing about what comes next (see "How to read this comparison" below).

How to read this comparison
- The reference station is the JMA station in Tokyo. It does not represent the weather across Japan; it compares the path of temperatures in Tokyo.
- What is compared is the shape of each year's difference from the seasonal level of its own era (so that differences in temperature levels between eras do not affect the result).
- The Tokyo station moved from Otemachi to Kitanomaru Park in December 2014, so the observations are slightly discontinuous before and after the move.
- Daily mean temperatures until around 1970 were calculated from observations at fixed times, and do not exactly match the current method.
These are statistics compiled from observations for Tokyo, 1875–2025 and this year, not a weather forecast for any particular day. For the latest forecasts, see the JMA website.
