Every day, we pick the town among the stations covered on this site whose temperatures were the most unusual "for that town in that season". Even a town with no heat records can take the spotlight when its temperatures are unlike its usual self.

How the winner is chosen
- Stations are compared by how unusual the temperatures were "for that town in that season". Only temperature is considered; rain, wind and snow are not part of the ranking.
- The detailed ranking calculation is not published, but every value given as a reason is the observed value shown above.
- On days when warnings are in effect in the winner's prefecture, we hold off on celebrating and simply report the record.
These are statistics compiled from observations for each day at the stations covered on this site, not a weather forecast for any particular day. For the latest forecasts, see the JMA website.
